It starts in the Aulla area and passes through some of the most distinctive fortified villages in Lunigiana. The route alternates about 31 km of road, 3 km of secondary roads, 1 km of state road and 1 km in total between bike path and trail: a mostly smooth combination, with steady climbs and long scenic stretches. After setting out, you will reach Terrarossa and continue on to Lusuolo, a small village overlooking the valley and dominated by the castle that once controlled the passage along the Magra River. The ride continues through hills, forests and countryside to Villafranca in Lunigiana, where the historic old town and the remains of Malnido Castle meet. The tour continues to Bagnone, one of the most picturesque villages in the area, crossed by the stream of the same name and characterized by stone bridges, alleyways and views of the castle. The return journey follows quiet roads and rural landscapes to Terrarossa and Aulla, completing an itinerary that is ideal for combining nature, medieval history and authentic views of Lunigiana.
