Description
A shore excursion from La Spezia to Florence and Pisa fits two Tuscan highlights into one long day, with the return to your ship planned around the sailing. A local Tuscan guide speaks English and rides with you in an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver.
In Florence, about four hours, you see Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo with Brunelleschi's dome and the open-air statues of Piazza della Signoria. The guide adds stories about the goldsmiths, the Medici and the artists, and also leads you off the main route to the Oltrarno quarter, its artisan workshops and a hidden courtyard. Free time of an hour to an hour and a half lets you wander or lunch on your own, with tips from the guide.
Pisa takes around an hour and a half, spent at Piazza dei Miracoli: the Leaning Tower, the cathedral, the baptistery and the cemetery.
