Description

The building houses the "L. Costa" State Classical Lyceum and the "V. Mazzini" State Middle School. Dedicated to Prince Umberto, it was inaugurated in 1923 in the presence of Victor Emmanuel III. The project was entrusted to the Public Works Office of the Municipality and was part of the vast demolition plan for the Torretto district. Architect Armando Titta was responsible for the design and the ornamental part of the Sala Dante, which has its entrance at the back of the building, on Via Ugo Bassi. The building has four entrances, gymnasiums, 60 classrooms and about half a kilometer of corridors three meters wide.
