Description
Embark on a truly enchanting coastal trek, a hidden gem that spirits you away from the delightful town of Levanto all the way to the iconic Monterosso, nestled within the heart of the Cinque Terre National Park. This captivating journey winds through the aromatic Mediterranean maquis, offering stunning vistas and a deep connection with nature. It's an ideal adventure for those who love to hike and possess a reasonable level of fitness.
Ready for an adventure? Our journey kicks off in the heart of Levanto, where we'll ascend along the coastline towards the historic Castle. Picture this: after the Castle, we'll be hiking upwards, surrounded by classic Mediterranean scenery and lush vegetation, with stunning views of the sparkling bay below.
Once we meet the road, we'll veer right, heading towards the breathtaking Punta Mesco. Get ready to be amazed as we traverse paths of unparalleled beauty, winding through Mediterranean shrubland and along dramatic cliffs that plunge into the sea. At a crossroads, we'll have a choice: explore the ancient ruins of the Monastery of Sant'Antonio and the military lantern, or descend to the charming center of Monterosso.
Upon arriving in Monterosso, prepare to be awestruck by the Statue of the Giant – a colossal, 14-meter-high Neptune standing proudly near Fegina beach. It's the perfect spot for the god of the sea, as he literally towers over the water!
This impressive figure, perched on a rocky promontory, was once a key feature of the opulent Villa Pastine. Neptune originally clutched a trident and supported a massive shell on his head, which served as a terrace.
